GRAND FORKS, N.D.-- Northern Colorado got a four-hitter and eight innings from starter Alex Werbach and the Bears held on for a 5-2 win Saturday afternoon in Western Athletic Conference play at Kraft Memorial Field.

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Northern Colorado scored two in the top of the ninth inning to slink away with a 6-4 win in the opener of a three-game Western Athletic Conference series Friday at Kraft Memorial Field. The score was tied twice in the final three innings and changed hands in the final frame to snap UNC's seven-game losing streak to UND dating back to the 2013 season. Zach Muckenhirn did not factor into the decision after throwing seven innings with four runs allowed, two earned, with seven strikeouts. Ben Reznicek, Brett Harrison and Ellery Bresnahan each had a pair of hits to pace the UND offense, which out-hit the Bears, 11-10. The teams continue the three-game series Saturday with a 3:00 p.m. first pitch.

Northern Colorado visits Kraft for key WAC series

GRAND FORKS, N.D.—Grand Canyon broke a 4-4 tie in the ninth with five runs, four unearned, to grab a 9-4 win Friday afternoon in Western Athletic Conference play at Kraft Memorial Field. North Dakota led 4-2 through six but the Lopes answered with two in the seventh to tie it and the five-spot in the final frame sealed it.
