Notes: UND opens year with 10 matches in nine days

North Dakota opens its 2017 campaign this week with its annual Green-White scrimmage Tuesday before the opener Friday at the Ole Miss Rebel Invitational. There, UND will face Chattanooga in the opener, followed by the host Rebels. Saturday, North Dakota draws Louisiana Tech and Florida A&M before heading to Atlanta, Ga., to face Georgia Tech.

The Fighting Hawks took a break from full pads, practicing in just helmets, shoulder pads and shorts on Friday as they continue preparations for Utah and season opener in Salt Lake City. UND had been in full pads for 10 consecutive practices before getting a break for the 15th session of fall camp.

Pomeroy added to softball staff

GRAND FORKS, N.D.-- University of North Dakota head softball coach Jordan Stevens announced the hiring of Hannah Pomeroy to his coaching staff Thursday. Pomeroy comes to UND after previously coaching at Western Oregon as well as working at JUGS Sports, a company famous for providing automated pitching machine solutions to coaching staffs around the country.

Steady rainfall in the upper midwest forced the Fighting Hawks inside the High Performance Center for just the second time this fall, but once again the enclosed state-of-the-art facility proved more than adequate in allowing the coaches and players to accomplish what they set out to do on what was the 13th practice of camp.
