Volleyball winter clinics start Jan. 19

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - The University of North Dakota volleyball program has announced the dates for the 2015 UND Winter Volleyball Clinic. A great winter activity for players of all ages. Each night will consist of skills instruction and end with competitive games.

North Dakota tied the school record for wins in a season with 26 wins in 2014. The 2011 and 1990 teams each generated 26 wins as well. First-year head coach Mark Pryor's 26-9 record puts him atop all UND coaches for winning percentage at .743.

POCATELLO, Idaho-- Third-seeded Northern Colorado used slim victories in the first two sets to post a 3-0 win over second-seed North Dakota Friday night in a Big Sky Conference Tournament semifinal match. UND (26-9) ends its season tied for the most wins in program history.

POCATELLO, Idaho-- Second-seeded North Dakota ran its season-best winning streak to eight straight with a 25-19, 25-15, 25-20 win over seven-seed Montana Thursday morning at Idaho State University in the quarterfinal round of the Big Sky Conference Tournament. UND (26-8) tied a school record for season wins in the process and picked up its first-ever victory in the postseason league tournament in its three seasons in the Big Sky.

UND piles up Big Sky All-Conference awards

OGDEN, Utah-- Four University of North Dakota players earned recognition from the Big Sky Conference as the league handed out its all-conference and individual awards Wednesday. Seniors Nikki Husfeldt and Lexi Robinson were each honored on the All-Big Sky First Team while Faith Dooley was dubbed the Freshman of the Year and a second teamer with junior McKenzie Hart grabbing the Libero of the Year.

North Dakota-- the Big Sky Conference North Division champion-- will head to the Big Sky Conference Tournament this weekend as the two-seed in the eight-team field. Action begins Thursday with UND and Montana squaring off in the quarterfinal opener at 11:30 a.m. Central from Pocatello, Idaho.

Big Sky North champs grab another five-set win

CHENEY, Wash.-- North Dakota will roll into the Big Sky Conference Tournament with back-to-back five-set road wins and winners of a season-high seven straight matches after a comeback 3-2 (20-25, 23-25, 25-13, 25-17, 15-7) win at Eastern Washington Saturday evening. UND trailed two sets to none then responded with convincing wins in each of the final three sets-- out-scoring EWU 75-37-- to give North Dakota a spotless 6-0 mark in five-set matches this season.

Dooley sets season blocks record in five-set win

MOSCOW, Idaho-- Visiting North Dakota took sole possession of the top of the Big Sky North Division standings Thursday, outlasting host Idaho, 3-2. The win put UND in the driver's seat for the No. 2 seed for the upcoming postseason tournament and North Dakota can now finish no lower than third in the seedings.
