Women's hoops adds more talent during late signing period

GRAND FORKS, N.D.-- On the first day of the late signing period Wednesday, University of North Dakota head women's basketball coach Travis Brewster announced a pair of signees set to join the Fighting Hawks next season. Juliet Gordon (Adelaide, S. Australia) and Jaclyn Jarnot (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) have committed to continuing their academic and basketball careers at UND.

UND lands 49 on Big Sky Winter All-Academic Team

Forty-nine Fighting Hawks have been named to the 2018 Big Sky Conference Winter All-Academic Team, which recognizes student-athletes in the sports of basketball and indoor track & field.

Speedy point guard set to transfer to UND

GRAND FORKS, N.D.-- University of North Dakota head women's basketball coach Travis Brewster announced that Alaina Jarnot will be transferring to UND from Monmouth to continue her basketball and academic careers. Jarnot is a Brooklyn Park, Minn., native and will have two years of eligibility remaining following sitting out the 2018-19 season due to NCAA transfer rules.

Oney Named to WBCA Thirty Under 30 list

ATLANTA — The Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced the WBCA Thirty Under 30 honorees presented by Marriott Rewards® for the 2017-18 season and it includes UND assistant coach Katelin Oney. The WBCA Thirty Under 30 presented by Marriott Rewards® program was created to recognize 30 up-and-coming women's basketball coaches age 30 and under at all levels of the game. Each honoree has exemplified their involvement in community service, mentorship, professional manner, and professional association involvement.

Bobcats use long first-half run to get past UND in Big Sky Tourney

RENO, Nev.-- Two longer scoring droughts cost North Dakota in an opening round loss to Montana State, 68-58, in the Big Sky Conference Tournament at the Reno Events Center. UND-- the 10 seed in this tourney-- sees its season come to a close at 12-18 overall.

Klabo named to All-Big Sky First Team

RENO, Nev. -- Junior Lexi Klabo was named to the five-player All-Big Sky Conference First Team as the league announced its postseason awards ahead of the postseason tournaments. Klabo, a second teamer last season, gives UND a first team honoree in each of the last five seasons. Fellow junior Fallyn Freije was named to the honorable mention squad.

GRAND FORKS, N.D.-- Portland State used a 30-15 first-quarter to run out to a lead of two-dozen at the break on the way to an 80-61 win in the regular season finale for both teams. The win gave Portland State the six seed in the upcoming Big Sky Conference tournament while UND will be the 10 seed and will play in the first round at 7:35 p.m. Central Monday against seventh-seeded Montana State.

Hornets nab road win, down UND 72-66

GRAND FORKS, N.D.-- North Dakota's comeback effort in the fourth quarter fell short as Sacramento State hung on for a 72-66 road win at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center Wednesday evening in Big Sky Conference play.
