Upcoming home softball series cancelled

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Officials at the University of North Dakota have announced that this coming weekend's scheduled home games against Northern Colorado have been cancelled. It was determined that the field at Apollo Sports Complex will not be ready for play Friday for this upcoming Big Sky Conference series against the Bears as snow and ice continue to cover the field for unplayable conditions.

OGDEN, Utah-- Weber State recorded a series sweep Wednesday with a 4-1 win over North Dakota at Wildcat Park in a relocated series. WSU now leapfrogs UND into first place in the Big Sky Conference standings.

Notes: Staying in Utah, eyeing to stay atop league

North Dakota will remain in Utah to play a mid-week series against Weber State Tuesday and Wednesday. This series was originally scheduled for this weekend in Grand Forks, but the weather forced the teams to look to other options to get the games in. UND will still be the "home" team in this pivotal three-game set against the defending Big Sky Conference regular season champions.

Play Another series win keeps UND atop Big Sky

CEDAR CITY, Utah-- Two homers staked visiting North Dakota to a lead that it never relinquished, winning the series finale, 6-4, at Southern Utah Saturday in Big Sky Conference play. It marked the fifth consecutive league series win for the Fighting Hawks dating back to last season and kept UND alone in first place in the conference standings at 7-2 this season.

Weather continuing to shift softball schedule

GRAND FORKS, N.D.-- An opportunity to get games in while in Utah prompted some changes to the UND softball schedule, announced Saturday. North Dakota is currently playing at Southern Utah and will remain in Utah to play at Weber State Tuesday and Wednesday, April 10-11, rather than the regularly-scheduled home series with the Wildcats next weekend.

Play Marzolino's five hits help UND to wild split

CEDAR CITY, Utah-- Marina Marzolino collected five hits, including a career-high four in the nightcap as North Dakota salvaged a split in a Friday Big Sky Conference doubleheader at Southern Utah. The Thunderbirds took game one, 3-0, but the Fighting Hawks stormed back with a four-run first inning in game two en route to a 10-8 win.

North Dakota softball will head to Cedar City, Utah for a three-game Big Sky Conference series Friday and Saturday. UND will then battle in-state rival North Dakota State next Tuesday before a scheduled home series against Weber State April 14-15.

Schedule changes due to today's wintry weather
