After two seasons in the director of basketball operations position, Steve Grabowski was elevated to an assistant coaching position and the 2017-18 season will mark the fourth in his current role.

The Fighting Hawks have appeared in postseason play in five of the six seasons Grabowski has been with the program, culminating last season with the program's first appearance in the NCAA Division I Tournament.

Grabowksi also helped lead the program to their first Big Sky regular season and tournament titles in 2017. He joined the North Dakota staff in the summer of 2012 in the operations role.

Grabowski’s work at UND is his first collegiate basketball experience away from Minot State University. The Minot, N.D., native played four seasons with the Beavers and spent seven seasons as an assistant coach at his alma mater (2005-12). 

The Beavers advanced to the NAIA Division II National Tournament twice during his tenure and won the Dakota Athletic Conference regular season title once and tournament title twice. The Beavers advanced to DAK Tournament semifinals in five of their last six seasons in the league.

Grabowksi completed his bachelor’s degree in physical education from Minot State in 2005 and is still pursuing his master’s degree in human performance and physical education.

Grabowski and his wife Caitlin reside in Grand Forks with their dog, Wrangler.
