Kendall Byrer joined the University of North Dakota Athletics Department in June 2016 when she was named compliance coordinator.
Byrer provides assistance to assistant athletics director for compliance to educate, support, monitor and enforce NCAA rules and regulations. She also assists with monitoring and certification for initial eligibility and continuing eligibility in regards to practice, financial aid and competition.
In addition, her position coordinates all facets of the National Letter of Intent (NLI) program, and departmental grant-in-aid offers to prospective students-athletes, as well as monitoring all aspects of student-athlete financial aid.
Byrer also assists with the athletics compliance monitoring system, which includes playing and practice, recruiting, amateurism, etc. Her responsibilities also include the development and distribution of educational tools such as compliance newsletters and brochures, as well as acting as meeting coordinator for educational meetings.
Byrer came to UND after having spent the previous year as a graduate assistant for compliance at Gonzaga University. While at Gonzaga, her duties included the monitoring of institutional adherence to NCAA, conference, and University rules and regulations, implementation of educational compliance initiatives, supervision of student-athlete eligibility and progress toward degree, and the NLI program.
Byrer also possesses legal experience, having served as a summer associate law clerk for both Landerholm Law Firm (2015) in Vancouver, Wash., and Gonzaga University Legal Assistance (2014). She also spent two years as a sales and marketing intern for AEG and the Los Angeles Kings (2011-13).
A 2013 graduate of Chapman University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Byrer played basketball for the Panthers. She graduated from the Gonzaga University School of Law in May 2016.
