Derick Stoulil joined UND Athletics as the assistant athletic director for marketing in Sept. 2016. Stoulil oversees the marketing department for UND Athleticss and serves as the day to day marketing contact for men’s hockey, volleyball and football tailgating.
Stoulil arrived in Grand Forks after spending three years as the assistant athletic director for marketing at Utah State University, where he oversaw marketing and promotions for all 16 sports. As the only full-time employee in marketing and promotions, Stoulil helped Utah State set all-time football records for football season tickets sales and total ticket revenue.
He was the in-game producer for football, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball and gymnastics. Stoulil implemented a social media plan that increased Facebook likes over 200 percent and twitter followers over 60 percent.
Prior to Utah State, Stoulil was a part of the marketing team at Purdue University for three years. He started as the assistant director of promotions and advertising and was promoted in Dec. 2011 to director of fan experience. At Purdue he was in charge of a marketing budget of $500,000 and worked with all 18 sports.
From 2008-2010 Stoulil worked in marketing and promotions at Fresno State University. His assignments at Fresno State were with the defending national championship Bulldog baseball team, along with volleyball and women’s basketball as well as coordinating The Red Zone student support group and the Junior Bulldogs Kids Club.
The Pocahontas, Iowa, native graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2004 with an accounting and marketing degree and earned a master’s degree in sport management from Western Illinois University in 2008.
