Josh Davis was named North Dakota's associate head coach on June 11, 2018.

Davis came to North Dakota after having spent the previous four seasons at the University of Idaho, the past two as associate head coach, where he helped lead the Vandals to consecutive Big Sky Conference championships in 2015 and 2016. He replaces Chris Citowicki, who accepted the head-coaching position at the University of Montana in May.

“It is exciting to welcome such a great person into our program. Josh embraces our ‘people first’ approach here at UND soccer and he enjoys developing the person, not just the athlete,” said UND Head Coach Chris Logan at the time of Davis' hiring. “In addition to the human values Josh brings, he is also an incredible coach and fantastic recruiter. It was important that we brought in the right person to continue building the program and we absolutely have added someone with the qualities to keep us moving forward. Both the team and I welcome Josh to UND.”

Idaho went 36-32-11 during Davis’ four seasons on staff and captured back-to-back conference titles by going 16-1-3 during Big Sky play over the 2015 and 2016 seasons. Idaho scored a school-record 44 goals in 2015 and followed that performance in 2016 by boasting the league’s top-scoring offense and allowing the fewest goals during league play.

Prior to his stint at Idaho, Davis was an assistant coach at Indiana Purdue University Fort Wayne in 2013. He served as the program’s goalkeeper coach and recruiting coordinator and helped the Mastodons set a school record for single-season shutouts.

Davis’ collegiate coaching background also includes stints at Cal State Fullerton, Whittier College and Cal State San Bernardino. He also has extensive experience at the club level and with the Cal South Olympic Development Program. Davis earned his National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Premier Coaching Diploma and is an NSCAA Associate Staff Member for Coaching Education.

He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from CSU Fullerton and has a master’s degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University.

Davis has two sons—Cole and Wyatt.
