Missoula, Mont. - The University of North Dakota women's golf team opened the Grizzly Invitational in record-setting fashion Monday morning, posting a Division I-era record for low team score. Freshman Dani DelGreco led the charge with a 73 (+2) as the Green and White shot a 306 (+18) in their opening round.

UND's top four scorers all broke 80 in the morning round as UND trailed only host Montana after 18 holes. Sophomore Sadie Martin and junior Mikayla Kromy fired respective 77's (+6) in the opening round, while freshman Alexis Guggisberg capped the team scoring with a 79 (+8).

"We got off to a great start in round one. I was really proud of the way we came out," UND head coach Natalie Martinson said. " This is the first multiiple-round tournament for four of the girls in our lineup, so what they did today was impressive.

"The second round did not go quite as well and we had some trouble on our finishing holes, but all-in-all, it was one of our better days as a Division I program and will be something we can build on."

After the fast start, UND stumbled a little bit as a second-round team score of 320 (+32) put them in a tie for fourth in the team standings after 36 holes.

Sophomore Emma Kishel, who did not factor into the team scoring in the opening round, turned in UND's top score in round two with a 77 (+6).

DelGreco and Martin both shot an 80 (+9) in the second round. DelGreco, who made eight birdies in her 36 holes on Monday, is tied for ninth in the individual standings with a 153 (+9). Martin is tied for 14th (157, +13).

Montana built a commanding lead in the team standings with scores of 290 and 294. The Griz lead UAB and Montana State by 34 strokes entering the final round. UND trails those two teams by eight strokes.

UND will conclude the six-team, 54-hole event on Tuesday.
