PORTLAND, Ore. – Two finals qualifiers and two personal records highlighted the third day of competition for North Dakota on Friday at the 2013 Big Sky Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

Teammates Kirsten Haas (Sr., Belgrade, Mont.) and Anne Van Heel (Forest Lake, Minn.) each qualified for Saturday’s finals in the 400-meter hurdles after placing third and seventh, respectively, during today’s prelims. Haas clocked a time of 1 minute, 1.71 seconds, while Van Heel ran the race in 1:03.86.

Also on the track, junior Savana Weller (Sauk Centre, Minn.) ran a personal-best time of 2 minutes 12.66 seconds in the 800-meters prelims. She shaved just under one second off of her previous best time on her way to a 12th-place showing.

UND’s day in the field events was punctuated by freshman Alyssa Lueck’s (Walworth, Wis.) personal record in the shot put. She hit a mark of 13.20 meters (43’3.75”) on her final throw of the day.

The Big Sky Conference Championship will conclude on Saturday starting at 12:30 p.m. Central with the field events, following by the running events at 2 p.m.
