GRAND FORKS, N.D.-- Jeff Campbell threw a complete game with eight strikeouts to lead host North Dakota past New Jersey Institute of Technology, 4-2 Sunday afternoon at Kraft Memorial Field. The win gave the series to UND and its most wins in its Division I era.

Campbell, making just his second start on the mound since recovering from an injury, threw his second complete game of the year and first since a 2-0 seven-inning shutuot of St. Cloud State back on Feb. 25. The sophomore right-hander's velocity appeared to be back to form as he challenged hitters and allowed just four hits and a run through his first six innings.

In the seventh, with UND leading 4-0, NJIT (18-29, 10-13) pieced together three hits and scored a run. With two on and one down, Campbell induced a fly out and a groundout to end the threat. Campbell rared back and got a pair of swinging strikeouts in the eighth and again had to work out of a jam in the final frame to earn the win.

After a leadoff single and another awkward infield hit that struck a runner standing on second base, the game ended when Scott Brosman flew to center and Jeff Peterson left early trying to tag to third, wrapping up a game that saw a few quirky plays.

UND (20-19-1, 10-10 GWC) got three of its runs in the fourth inning with five straight singles with one out. Zack Trygstad ledoff with a walk then a perfectly-placed bunt single from Tyler Follis followed. A run-scoring single to center by Daniel Lockhert plated the first run then Matt Wehrli loaded the bases with a knock up-the-middle. Jacob Threlkeld extended his hitting streak to 14 straight games with an infield single then Patrick Vandoorne drove in the third run by beating out a grounder back to the pitcher.

The final UND insurance run came in the next frame when Taylor Petersen doubled to center and later scored on Follis' sacrifice fly. That would be all the insurance Campbell would need as he earned his second win of the season, scattering eight singles and a double with eight strikeouts and two walks.

The bottom four hitters of the lineup (Follis, Lockhert, Wehrli, Threlkeld) combined to go 7-for-13 with two runs and three RBI in the win. Vandoorne also notched a pair of hits for North Dakota.

UND-- winners of seven of its last nine-- hosts Chicago State for a four-game conference series to end the regular season. The series begins Thursday and runs through Saturday.
