Clarke wins 400, Slemmons nabs pair of PRs at NDSU

FARGO, N.D. – Sophomore Stephanie Clarke took place in the 400-meters and classmate Paige Slemmons recorded personal record times in the 60-meters and 200-meters today at the Bison Open.

Clarke, who broke UND’s 400-meters record a week ago, topped the field today with a time of 57.14 seconds.

Slemmons, meanwhile, was UND’s top finisher in both of her events. Running in her hometown, she finished fourth in the 200-meters with a PR of 26.02 seconds and was sixth in the 60-meters with a PR of 8.00 seconds.

In the 800-meter run, junior Jessica Lindsay established a PR of 2 minutes, 15.67 seconds.

Lynch’s classmate, Jessica Lynch, was fourth in the 3,000-meters with a time of 10:36.30.

A pair of UND relay teams placed 2-3 in the 4x400 relay. Clarke and Lindsay teamed with Anne Van Heel and Savana Weller for the runner-up finish with a time of 3:54.19, while the quartest of Slemmons, Alyssa Espinoza, Ashley Fedie and Maartje van Bedaf placed third in 4:04.23.

Fedie wasn’t finished there, as the Chanhassen, Minn., native also tied for third in the high jump with a PR of 5 feet, 4 ¼ inches.

Junior Sara Lubke landed a PR of 10-10.00 in the pole vault, finishing seventh.

UND returns to action next Friday at the University of South Dakota’s Twilight Open.
