GRAND FORKS, N.D. – There will not be any dynasties started following the second annual North Dakota Tailgate Sioux-per Party Cook-off Challenge and People’s Choice Awards, but for the second straight spring Fighting Sioux fans got their appetites satisfied by some of the best food in the region.
Year two brought out new competitors and eventually new champions as thousands of fans enjoyed a Saturday full of great food, great fun and great Fighting Sioux football.
The Green Team had different ideas about forming dynasties as the squad won its second straight Divide and Conquer Game since moving to the new format by the score of 20-14. Some of those same hungry fans patrolling the Alerus Center parking lot also helped provide the winning margin of six points as they were treated to an aerial show inside.
“We had another great turnout for this event,” UND head coach Chris Mussman said. “It’s a great way to get our fans involved and keep them excited about our football program during the offseason. There a lots of things to be excited about as we move into the Big Sky Conference and I think you really saw that on Saturday with the tailgating, the kid’s clinic and capped off with what I thought was a great Spring Game.”
