Benny Boyd never thought he'd be coaching football at the university level. Planning on coaching high school basketball and becoming a social worker, Boyd instead became a graduate assistant at his alma mater Aurora University. He found his passion, later becoming the defensive coordinator at Luther College.

Boyd is entering his second season with the University of North Dakota football program. After spending his first season coaching the cornerbacks, Boyd will take over the entire secondary in 2012 and serve as assistant special teams coordinator.
