The countdown to UND football is on. With 83 days and counting to the start of the University of North Dakota football season, UNDSports.com is here every Friday with updates, news and other fun items to get ready for the year.

Today's Football Friday update speaks more to the UND athletics department as a whole. With the recent announcement that demolition has begun on the old Ralph Engelstad Arena to make way for the new UND Athletics High Performance Center, Matt Schill and Tim Hennessy look back at the building's place in UND's history.

The UND Athletics High Performance Center is a game-changing, transformational facility for all sports, including the football team.

The indoor field will allow for practice year-round and have updated locker rooms, coaching offices and more.

The UND football team's season opens against Valparaiso on Aug. 29. It's one of seven home games at the Alerus Center for UND, which also hosts Montana, Montana State, South Dakota State, Eastern Washington and more. Get your tickets today.
