UND falls to Western Illinois in close match

Des Moines, Iowa - The University of North Dakota men's tennis team was defeated by Western Illinois by a close score of 4-3 at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center on Saturday.

Freshman Connor Oberle (Excelsior, Minn.) and junior Josh Oothoudt (Minot, N.D.) teamed for UND's lone doubles victory defeating Patrick Hammers and Ben Yue 8-5.

Oothoudt was also victorious in his singles competition, defeating Hammers 6-0, 6-4 in No. 1 singles. Oberle beat Ben Yue 6-3, 6-1 in No. 3 singles. Junior Grant Bakke (Bismarck, N.D.) also defeated his opponent Brandon Meeker in No. 6 singles with scores of 6-4, 6-3.

UND will travel to Omaha, Neb. to take on the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks Feb.  22.
