Grand Forks, N.D. - The much-anticipated 2013 University of North Dakota football season begins on Thursday with a home tilt against Valparaiso and athletic department officials are encouraging fans to plan ahead and arrive at the Alerus Center early to secure parking spots and enjoy tailgating.
There will be plenty for fans to enjoy before kickoff as Tailgate Village, presented by the Greater Grand Forks Convention & Visitor’s Bureau, is back for its second season. The special tailgating section offers live music, a Kid Zone presented by Northern Air Family Fun Center, UND merchandise for sale from GW Gear and food for purchase from the Ground Round and Deeks Pizza. This area is open and free to the public, opening 2.5 hours prior to every home game.
Tailgate Village also features privately catered corporate hospitality tents for large groups. Packages include food, tickets, tent, tables and chairs, setup, takedown, and everything else a great tailgate needs. Tents remain available for purchase for all games except Montana and Montana State. Contact Dexter Albrecht at 701-777-4582 if you are interested in checking availability of a hospitality tent.
Private Season tailgate spots in Tailgate Alley are sold out. However, single-game tailgate spots will be available on game day at $15 per spot. Tailgating lots open five hours prior to the game and fans are encouraged to arrive early as tailgate spots are limited. Tailgaters are requested to use South Drive to enter the parking lot.
Students can pick up a free tailgating pass (while supplies last) when they pick up their ticket at the Student Ticket Office in Memorial Union. Shuttles will once again run from outside the Wilkerson Dining Center to the Alerus Center starting three hours prior to the game.
Fans interested in season spots for tailgating in future years are encouraged to add their names to the waitlist now. There is no cost to be placed on the waitlist. Contact Alex Kroke to add your name at 777.1373 or alexander.kroke@my.UND.edu
