GRAND FORKS, N.D. - Individual awards were handed out over the weekend as the men's swimming and diving team held its annual end of the season awards banquet.

Most Valuable: Adam Gannon (So., Plymouth, Minn.)

• Second straight year voted most valuable

"Adam is extremely talented and it really is no surprise that he was voted MVP again this season," head coach Steve Parsons said. "He ranks among the top two or three all-time at UND in multiple events, so this is a well-deserved honor." 

Newcomer of the Year: MacIan Campbell (Fr., Stillwater, Minn.)

"MacIan came in as a walk-on and has been a nice surprise for the coaching staff," Parsons said. "He was consistent all dual meet season and was by far our biggest surprise. He has great potential for the future."

Most Improved: Andrew Germain (Fr., Blaine, Minn.)

"Andrew had an outstanding freshman year," Parsons said. "We knew that he was a good diver coming out of high school, but he really exceeded our expectations this season. I can already tell that he has a bright and successful future ahead of him."

Mike Haase "Rookie of the Year": Zachary Stettner (Fr., Minnetonka, Minn.)

"It is not a surprise that Zachary won the Mike Haase award," Parsons said. "Zach is a great individual. He repeatedly showed us throughout the season that he is energetic and focused. He definitely embodies the spirit of the Mike Haase award."

The Fighting Sioux men finished the season with a dual record of 5-5 and a ninth-place finish at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Swimming and Diving Championships, its first ever conference meet as a member of the MPSF. Over the course of the season, 24 UND all-time top 10 times/scores were recorded, including one new record.

NOTE: The most valuable awards are decided using points scored throughout the dual meet season, Newcomer of the Year, Diver of the Year, and most improved are voted on by the coaching staff, and the Mike Haase "Rookie of the Year" is voted on by the team members.
