Men’s track hits trio of weight throw PRs at NDSU

FARGO, N.D. -- Juniors Roman Waldera and Shawn Johnson, as well as freshman Zachary Olson, all logged personal records in the weight throw today, as North Dakota opened the Thundering Herd Classic hosted by North Dakota State.

Waldera, a Minot, N.D., native, was UND's top performer in the event, recording a mark of 55 feet, 1 ½ inches (16.80 meters).

Johnson, who hails from Eveleth, Minn., was seventh with a throw of 53 feet, 2 ¾ inches (16.22).
Olson rounded out the PR triumvirate with a mark of 44 feet, 6 ¾ inches (13.58 meters).

The only other event run during the opening day was the pentathlon, in which Jordan Fisk placed ninth. The junior from Langdon, N.D., finished with 2,187 points.

The Thundering Herd Classic wraps up tomorrow, with the action getting underway at noon.
