IOWA CITY, Iowa-- North Dakota rallied from down 29 to close within a dozen, but host Iowa fended-off the surge to post an 88-62 non-conference win over North Dakota Saturday. It was the final non-league game for both schools.

UND (6-4) held the lead for most of the first half, racing out of the gates to claim a 13-4 lead. But, the 21st-ranked Hawkeyes (12-2) responded with seven straight points. After a free-throw make by Makailah Dyer to make it 24-20, Iowa ended the half on a 25-4 run to grab a 17-point cushion at the break.

An 18-6 spurt to start the second stanza had U of I up comfortably at 63-34 with 16:29 left. Resilient North Dakota would later hold Iowa scoreless for more than six-and-a-half minutes and rattled off 14 straight points to attempt a comeback. The final three in that stretch came on a Mia Loyd three-point play with 6:28 remaining and the Hawkeyes up just a dozen.

Samantha Logic, who led all scorers with 21 points, got to the free throw line 12 times in the contest helping to overcome the Iowa dryspell. Six Hawkeyes were in double figures as Iowa outscored UND 20-0 on the fastbreak. Logic finished with eight assists and seven rebounds.

Senior Madi Buck led UND with 19 points and seven rebounds while sophomore Mia Loyd added 13 points and Emily Evers contributed 10.

North Dakota returns to Big Sky Conference play Thursday, hosting Southern Utah. Tip is slated for 6:00 p.m. from  the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.
