Champions Golf Tour makes Park River stop

The Champions Golf Tour closed out June with a great time in Park River, N.D., at the Hillcrest Golf Club. The event was originally scheduled for earlier in year, however, late spring flooding forced a new date.

It didn't deter the great support from the UND friends and fans in Park River. Seventeen teams heard from athletics director Brian Faison, talked and golfed with coaches and raised money for impact scholarships.

After the golf tournament, everyone enjoyed a grill-your-own steak dinner and soup/salad buffet. Twenty-five exclusive raffle prizes were also given away.

  • 35 hole sponsors – local sponsor was Park River Implement
  • Food and beverages on course donated by Korner Grocery, Country Hearth, Duffey’s Bar and Dakota Sales
  • Local committee members include: Tim Hurtt, Deb Whaley, Denny Schneider
  • Coaches present: Dean Oliver, Natalie Martinson, Ashley Hardee, Jeff Dodson, Josh Kotelnicki, Brian Idalski, Brian Jones, Travis Brewster, Chris Mussman, Eric Oakley, Kevin Galbraith
  • Staff present: Dexter Albrecht, Ryan Powell, Nick Jensen, Steve Brekke, Mike Mannasau, Katie Horob, Brian Faison
  • Also had two hockey players help out with the putting contest to represent the sport.
  • ·         We had a welcome program, introduced coaches, thanked sponsors, Brian gave an overview of what’s happening in Athletics and they began golfing.  After the tournament,

The next stop on the UND Champions Golf Tour will be in Detroit Lakes, Minn.
