CHICAGO - Sophomore Taylor Brett won a conference title, while seniors Lindsay Anderson and Emily Emerson each provided a pair of top-three performances today to lead the Fighting Sioux to a second-place finish at the 2012 Great West Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship.

UND finished the two-day championship with 119 points, second only to Utah Valley's 240 points.

Brett, a native of Forest Lake, Minn., took first place in the pole vault, clearing 10 feet, 6 inches. It was UND's second individual title in as many days after senior Christine Weinreich (Pismo Beach, Calif.) won the weight throw with a school-record mark on Saturday.

Anderson, a native of Leeds, N.D., placed second in the 3,000-meters with a time of 10 minutes, 11.11 seconds and third in the 5,000-meters with a time of 17:44.99.

Emerson, who hails from Lino Lakes, Minn., was the runner-up in the mile run with a time of 4:59.63. She also placed fourth in the 800-meters with a time of 2:19.61, one of three Sioux runners to score in the event. Freshman Jessica Lindsay (Grand Forks, N.D.) placed third with a time of 2:17.72, while Victoria Lutz (So., Park Rapids, Minn.) placed seventh with a time of 2:22.49.

Senior Mikaela Hirst (Bismarck, N.D.) scored for the second straight day, taking third in the triple jump with a leap of 35 feet, 11 ½ inches. Yesterday she took third in the long jump.

Junior Kirsten Haas (Belgrade, Mont.) provided a pair of top-five showings. She took fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.10 seconds, and also placed fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.26 seconds.

Haas and Lindsay were also members of UND's 4x400 relay team that placed fourth. They teamed with sophomore Savana Weller (Sauk Centre, Minn.) and freshman Ashley Fedie (Chanhassen, Minn.) for a time of 4:04.59.

Weinreich placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 41 feet, 1 inch. Teammate Chantel Urban (Fr., Surrey, N.D.) was sixth with a throw of 40 feet.
