GRAND FORKS, N.D. - The University of North Dakota women's swimming and diving team swam in its last home meet of the season with a 172-123 win over Northern Iowa at the Hyslop pool on Senior Day.

"It has been a journey for all of us," UND head coach Steve Parsons explained while reflecting on the UND senior class. Parsons was named head coach in 2009 and has been with these seniors from the beginning of their collegiate careers.

UND had great success in the 200 yard Individual Medley with each of the swimmers placing in the top four. Freshman Caitlin Quon (Richmond, B.C.) led the way with a time of 2:10.57. She was followed by sophomore Erin Grabanski (Grand Forks, N.D.), senior Veronica Medon (Huntsville, Ontario), and junior Camile Merwin (Aliso Viejo, Calif.).

Quon also had first-place finishes in the 1000 yard freestyle (10:27.07) and the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:27.95.

Freshman Ali Church (Grand Forks, N.D.) had multiple first-place finishes in the 200 yard freestyle (1:57.50) and the 500 yard freestyle (5:15.53).

Other first-place finishers included Kara Fisher in the 100 yard backstroke (1:00.44). Freshman Alexa Weyer (Snohomish, Wash.) with a 1:09.35 finish in the 100 yard breaststroke, junior Rachel Wessman (Fargo, N.D.) in the 50 yard freestyle (24.64), junior Kelsey Richels (Wahpeton, N.D.) in the 100 yard freestyle (53.87) and Medon with a time of 2:05.53 in the 200 yard backstroke.

On the diving board, junior Rachael Waldbillig (Circle Pines, Minn.) led the way with on the 1-meter with a score of 259.85. Waldbilling placed second on the 3-meter with a score of 239.10.

North Dakota will return to the pool on January 5, 2013 in Fort Myers, Fla.
