MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Junior Shawn Johnson won the discus and landed a milestone mark in the shot put today as North Dakota wrapped up competition at the Shamrock Invitational, hosted by Coastal Carolina University.

Johnson won the discus with a throw of 51.27 meters (168 feet, 2 inches), logging the winning mark on his sixth throw. The Eveleth, Minn., native then recorded a lifetime best shot put mark of 17.35 meters (56 feet, 11 ¼ inches) that was also an NCAA qualifying mark. Johnson placed fourth in the event.

Junior Jesse Fenstermacher (Hibbing, Minn.) took third in the 800-meters with a time of 1 minute, 53.47 seconds.

In the triple jump, freshman D'Monte Farley (Cottage Grove, Minn.) placed fourth with a leap of 14.97 meters (49 feet, 1 ½ inches).

Junior Jordan Fisk (Langdon, N.D.) finished seventh in the decathlon, recording 5,331 points.
UND is idle until April 6 when it returns to action at the Dakota Duals in Fargo.
