Volleyball alumni match set for Saturday

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - The University of North Dakota volleyball team will get its first taste of live action this weekend as it suits up against a number of former players for the annual alumni match. First serve is set for Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. Admission is free for this first look at the newest member of the Big Sky Conference.

Highlighting this year's alumni roster is new assistant coach and 2010 GWC Player of the Year Erin Joki along with UND's all-time career dig leader Lindsay Vortherms. The pair helped lead UND to its first GWC conference and tournament title in 2009.

UND will officially open its 2012 regular season when it travels to College Station, Tex. for three matches at Texas A&M.  The two-day tourney starts Friday, Aug. 24 with fifth-ranked Southern California. The home schedule commences on Aug. 31 when UND hosts South Dakota, Green Bay and Stephen F. Austin for the 2012 UND Classic.
