SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Junior thrower Shawn Johnson made the most of his two events this weekend, logging one personal record and one top-five finish today at the UC San Diego Triton Invitational.

Johnson's personal record came in the discus, where he landed a mark of 52.80 meters (173'7"). It was also the second-best discus throw in the Big Sky Conference this season.

The Eveleth, Minn., native also enjoyed a fifth-place effort in the shot put with a mark of 16.35 meters.

Teammate Zachary Olson (Fr., Owatonna, Minn.) hit a mark of 44.68 meters in the discus.

UND also sent a split squad to the Drake Alternative Meet in Saint Peter, Minn. The team returns to action on Monday at the Cobber Twilight in Moorhead, Minn.
