NORTH STONINGTON, Conn. - Freshman Samuel Matthew and junior Nick Schaefer each shot a 4-over 76 today to lead the Fighting Sioux during the second round of the America Sky Conference Championship.

It was the second straight 76 for Matthew, who will enter tomorrow's final round tied for 12th place. The Roseville, Minn., native has a two-day 152 and is just one shot outside of the top 10 and six shots from cracking the top five.

Schaefer, a native of Grand Forks, N.D., shaved four strokes off of yesterday's opening-round 80, the team's best improvement during the second round. His two-day 156 is good for a 24th-place tie.

UND shot 315 as a today, which represented a five-shot improvement from yesterday. The Sioux are 11th place heading into tomorrow's action.

Sacramento State, behind clubhouse leader Cameron Rappleye, remains atop the team standings with a 576, good for a comfortable 29-shot lead over runner-up Houston Baptist. Rappleye carded his second straight 71 and leads the individual standings by two strokes with a 142.

Third-round action will begin with a 7:30 a.m. Central tee time with groups going off of the first and 10th tees. The top four teams will tee off beginning at 8:30 a.m. to close out the start of the final round.
