Four UND runners crack upper half at Nebraska meet

LINCOLN, Neb. – Senior Sam Saccoman paced all North Dakota runners today, placing 28th among 75 participants at the Woody Greeno/Nebraska Invitational at Pioneer Park.

Saccoman, who hails from Hibbing, Minn., completed the 8K course in a team-leading 26 minutes, 51.10 seconds. He and his UND teammates placed fifth among seven Division I teams, topping Kansas State and Creighton.

Host Nebraska won the meet, while Wichita State’s Chris Burnett captured medalist honors with a time of 24:58.50.

Besides Saccoman, UND was able to place three other runners among the upper half of the individual standings. Junior Nick Lindstrom (Shakopee, Minn.) finished 29th, while sophomore Parker Wharram (Independence, Minn.) and junior Nate Peterson (Horace, N.D.) placed 32nd and 33rd, respectively.

UND will take a week off and return to action Oct. 4 at the South Dakota State Classic in Brookings.
