Anderson, Haas earn academic all-district honors

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - University of North Dakota standouts Lindsay Anderson and Kirsten Haas have been named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All‐District Women's Track and Field/Cross Country Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

UND and Arkansas were the only institutions to place more than one student-athlete on the Academic All-District 6 Team.

Anderson, a senior from Leeds, N.D., is a communication sciences and disorders major with a 3.93 grade point average. She was the runner-up in both the 5K and 10K races at the 2012 Great West Conference Outdoor Championship, while placing second in the 3K and third in the 5K at the 2012 GWC Indoor Championship. Anderson ran the Great West's top 2012 time in the 5K at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays. She was the GWC Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year and the GWC Cross Country Athlete of the Year as a junior in 2010-11 and was an academic all-conference selection in both sports.

Haas, a junior from, Belgrade, Mont., is an international studies major with a 4.0 grade point average. She was the runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles at the 2012 GWC Outdoor Championship, while placing fifth in both the 100-meter hurdles and the 4x400 relay. At the 2012 GWC Indoor Championship, Haas took fourth in the 60-meter hurdles, fourth in the 4x400 relay and fifth in the 400-meter hurdles. Haas was an academic all-conference selection in 2010-11.

Both Anderson and Haas now advance to the Capital One Academic All‐America® Team ballot, where first‐, second‐ and third‐team All‐America honorees will be selected in June.
