The team wrapped up its final two-a-day session of fall camp, which is just another indication of how fast the season opener with South Dakota School of Mines is approaching (Thur., Aug. 30 at 7 p.m.).
It was another full day of a combined three and a half hours of work on the practice field that ended with some work in two-minute situations as the team shelled down to just helmets and shorts for the afternoonw session.
Prior to the start of the day's second practice, there was a little extra jolt provided in the lockerroom by the arrival of the team's new black uniforms. That energy carried over onto the practice field where the tempo was high for the afternoon session.
"We had a really good practice this morning and that carried over into the afternoon work," UND head coach Chris Mussman said. "We threw a lot of new things at the guys and they responded well. We sped things up for them and it's always good to see how they react in those situations. I was pleased with what I saw."
The tight ends seemed to be a favorite target of senior quarterback Braden Hanson (Charlotte, N.C.) in the morning workout. Senior Seth Nichols (McVille, N.D.) hauled in a nice pass during red zone work during the morning session and his classmate Seth Wisthoff (Glenburn, N.D.) was also targeted on several passes.

- Most of the players got a sneak peak at the new black uniforms that arrived on Friday. Sophomore safety Baylee Carr (Hazen, N.D.) was the only player able to model the full uniform for this exclusive photo gallery. There was some immediate lobbying by the players to wear new uniforms for all home games, but that decision has not been made yet.
- Some dings and dents across both sides of the ball have allowed for some younger players to get more reps. And, for some positions, that has allowed some players to work at different positions, especially across the offensive front. Senior Emmett Lynch (Lester Prairie, Minn.) has worked some at both tackle spots and redshirt freshman Brandon Anderson (Sartell, Minn.) has received some reps with the first team at right guard.
- Those dings and dents have also forced the coaches to alter the format for Saturday's second scrimmage of the spring. There is not going to be a full scrimmage as planned, but the first and second units will get some live work done inside the redzone (roughly 20 plays).
- Those plays will be all the live action those players will see, but there will be a handful of live kicks and punts during the practice, which is now set to being at 10 a.m. The younger players will also see some extended live action as well.
- The session will end with full 11-on-11 work with game officials that will be on hand for the practice.
