DES MOINES, IOWA-- Sophomore-to-be D'Monte Farley earned All-America honors in the first day of the 2013 USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Drake Stadium.

Farley took eighth in the triple jump Thursday to earn the all-America accolades. Farley's best effort was his second attempt of 14.39 meters, to get him into the finals. Timothy White-Edwards from College of the Canyons won the event with his 16.18-meter leap on his first attempt, outdistancing the field by nearly a half-meter.

Fellow sophomore Ke-Ke Burks, who is competing in two different events at this meet, finished 17th in the hammer throw Thursday. Her first toss of 45.98 meters proved to be her best. She will compete in the discus throw on Saturday along with teammate Molly Griep.

The top eight finishers in each event earn USA Track and Field All-America honors, and the top two qualify for the Pan Am Junior Games.
