SAN ANTONIO, Texas-- Senior Veronica Medon garnered her second top-three finish during the final day of competition at the WAC Championships held at the Aquatic Center at Palo Alto College. North Dakota finished seventh in the team standings.

"Morgan Lynch and Ali Church had real good swims in the mile and that seemed to get thing rolling," UND head swimming coach Steve Parsons said. "Erin Grabanski had a great swim in the 200 back and really had one heck of a week in the pool. Veronica Medon followed with one of the best swims I have ever seen. She crushed the varsity record on her way to a second NCAA B cut time! Kara Fisher led the way in the 100 free dropping time from the morning swim and Cassie Walth and Kelsey Richels both had pretty good second swims. Alison Tonsager came through last minute with a nice second swim in the 200 breaststroke.  She basically did a cold swim and went an almost identical swim to the morning swim. Just a great effort on her part. Teresa DiGregorio had a solid night swim to finish out individual swims. Overall, a pretty good night of swimming to wrap up he conference meet. I am extremely proud of our women and how they performed this weekend and especially the leadership our seniors showed."

Medon followed her third-place showing the 100 backstroke Friday with a runner-up placing in the 200 backstroke Saturday. Her 1:57.30 time gave her another NCAA B cut and beat her own UND record in that event, more than two seconds better than her time in that event at the WAC Championships last season. Erin Grabanski finished just outside the top 16 with a 2:03.60 time in the preliminaries.

Morgan Lynch
was 14th in the 1650 free, touching the wall at 17:18.38. Ali Church was 17th with her 17:20.57 effort. Kara Fisher picked-up a 13th-place in the 100 freestyle with a 51.72 time in the "B" Final. Cassie Walth was 17th with a 51.81 clocking and Kelsey Richels 19th (52.35).

The 400 freestyle relay team wrapped-up the meet with a fifth-place in that event, touching in 3:26.24.

In the platform diving event, Rachael Waldbillig advanced to the finals, scoring 162.65 for 13th place. Jen Anklan missed out on the finals, placing 17th.

"Rachael moved up for prelims and had a very good finale," UND head diving coach Brian Strom said. "Jen had some tough luck finishing 17 not making it to the finals.  Overall, a good meet for the divers."

San Jose State was crowned the team champion with 695 points, edging out Northern Arizona by eight points.
