GRAND FORKS, N.D. - The University of North Dakota men's swimming and diving team fell to South Dakota State 183-117 at the Hyslop pool on Senior Day. The day marked the last home meet for the UND seniors.

"We swam okay," said UND head coach Steve Parsons. "They never gave up, which I'm excited to see that."

North Dakota opened the day with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay. The UND 'A' team of junior Adam Gannon (Plymouth, Minn.), freshman Ian Ballantyne (Bismarck, N.D.), freshman Matt Koken (Woodbury, Minn.), and sophomore Wesley Schultz (Tehachapi, Calif) clocked in at 1:35.93.

Freshman Aaron Chanas-LaRue (Winnipeg, Man.) went on to take first in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:45.84. Other first-place finishes included sophomore Austin Smith (Colorado Springs, Colo.) in the 100 yard breaststroke (59.35) and junior Daniel Jacobson (Ramsey, Minn.) with a time of 1:58.09 in the 200 Individual Medley.

Junior Rick Eberle (Fort Collins, Colo.) finished in first-place on the 1-meter dive with a score of 286.90. Sophomore Adam Germain (Blaine, Minn.) had a second-place finish on the 3-meter after scoring 288.10. He was followed by Eberle in fourth (261.00) and freshman Clayton Metcalf (Monticello, Minn) with a score of 248.40.

UND will return to action on January 18th in Colorado Springs, Colo. against Wyoming.
