UND winds up in a tie for fourth at Green Bay

Green Bay, Wis. - Sophomore Amanda Fairweather (Maple Valley, Wash.) vaulted herself into a tie for seventh in the final individual standings at the Green Bay Invitational after she posted the lowest round of her career on Tuesday.

Fairweather shot a 74 (+1), which was also the low round of the day by any golfer on the course at the Par-73 Green Bay Country Club. Fairweather moved up 12 spots, but her team remained in fourth in the team standings after combining for a final round 329 (+37). The Green and White shared fourth with Chicago State (651, +67).

Indianapolis (629, +45) held on for the team win after a 323 (+31) on the final day. Northern Illinois and Butler tied for second and were both 12 strokes off the pace at 641 (+57).

Senior Robin Hutchinson (Detroit Lakes, Minn.) fell back to a tie for 14th after she carded an 84 (+11) in the final round. Fellow captain Shantel Montgomery was 27th with a two-day total of 167 (+21). Freshman Abbie Mozzetti (Hugo, Minn.) rounded out the scoring for UND with an 87 (+14) in her last 18 holes. Mozzetti finished in a tie for 32nd.

Montgomery made five birdies during the tournament, which were tied for the second most in the field. Fairweather had 23 pars, which was tied for the third most in the field. As a team, UND posted the best scoring on the par 4's with a +39, but the squad was +28 on the par 3's and par 5's combined.

UND will see the Cougars of Chicago State again next week when they travel to the Windy City to play in the CSU Invitational. The two-day tournament will be played at the Harborside International Golf Center. First-round action begins on Sept. 17.
