BROOKINGS, S.D. - The North Dakota men's cross country team finished third among Division I teams today at the South Dakota State Classic.

Host SDSU won the team title with 16 points, while runner-up North Dakota State had 55 points. UND, running without the services of letterwinners Nick Lindstrom, Nate Peterson and Mark Harries, finished with 60 points.

The 8K race was held at the Edgebrook Golf Course.

SDSU's Trent Lusignan won medalist honors with a time of 24:59.13. Teammate Michael Krsnak was the runner-up with a time of 25:19.90.

Junior Sam Saccoman (Hibbing, Minn.), who transferred from Minnesota Duluth prior to the season, was UND's top runner, finishing 13th with a 26:32.16.

Saccoman was joined in the top 20 by teammates Ross Nelson (Jr., Apple Valley, Minn.) and Kyle Economy (Jr., Victoria, Minn.), who placed 16th and 17th, respectively.

UND will take a week of before returning to action Sept. 28 at the Montana Invitational.
