GREELEY, Colo. --- The University of North Dakota soccer team fell short to Big Sky Conference-leading Northern Colorado by a score of 3-0 Friday in Greeley, Colorado.
With the loss, North Dakota falls to 2-7-1 on the year and 0-3 in conference play, while Northern Colorado improves to 5-4-2 overall and remains undefeated in conference play with a record of 3-0.
"We are just not playing consistent soccer right now," head coach Kristen Gay said. "It's all about pride at this point. That's what we have to play for going forward."
Northern Colorado took the lead at the 24:12 mark with a goal from Alexsys Tamayo. Brittany Dunn was credited with the assist. UNC would take its 1-0 advantage into the halftime break.
UNC came out strong in the second half, as Madison Yoswa put the Bears ahead 2-0 in the 63rd minute of the game. Brittany Dunn picked up her second assist of the game on this play.
Mallory Van Hout headed the ball into the net off of a corner kick by Laura Vallen to compile the Bear's final goal of the game in the 88th minute. This effort would give Northern Colorado its 3-0 victory.
Jaymie Jackson (Anchorage, Alaska) led North Dakota with three shots in the losing effort.
UND's goalkeeper Kristi Hestdalen (Pierre, S.D.) compiled two saves, while Northern Colorado's goalkeeper Natalie D'Adamlo made four saves to record her fourth shutout of the year.
North Dakota hits the road again next weekend for two BSC matchups, taking on Eastern Washington on Friday and Montana on Sunday.
