GRAND FORKS, N.D. --- The University of North Dakota picked up its first series sweep of the 2012-13 season having to again grind out a close game, this time coming by way of a 1-0 shutout Saturday at the Ralph Engelstad Arena.

Senior Jocelyne Lamoureux (Grand Forks, N.D.) continues to provide most of UND's goal scoring with the game's lone tally tonight.

Senior Jorid Dagfinrud (Sarpsborg, Norway) stopped all 19 shots faced for her second shutout of the season in three starts. She now has a 0.30 goals against average and a .981 save percentage in four games played.

North Dakota worked its way to a 36-19 advantage in shots before the final buzzer sounded, but is still trying find answers offensively.

After leading the WCHA in goals scored last season, UND has averaged a mere 2.50 goals per game, down from its program record-setting pace of 4.19 last season although returning a majority of its scoring.

But with a lot of freshmen playing their first collegiate minutes, UND hopes to take advantage of the experience being gained defensively in some close contests, while awaiting some consistent secondary scoring.

Lamoureux scored her eighth goal of the season working her way just in front of the crease from the nearside boards to find a hole past SCSU netminder Katie Fitzgerald to the short side.

Becca Kohler (St. Thomas, Ontario) received the lone assist on the eventual game-winner tallied at 9:12 of the second period.

Lamoureux has caged eight of UND's 15 goals scored on the year.

In a battle of stellar performances in net, Fitzgerald was equally impressive facing much more work. She finished with 35 saves in the losing effort.

North Dakota will have a tough test awaiting them next in league rival and top-ranked Minnesota. Game times are set for Saturday and Sunday at 2:07 p.m. at the REA.
