GRAND FORKS, N.D. - University of North Dakota Director of Athletics Brian Faison announced today that head women's soccer coach Kristen Gay will not have her contract renewed.

"Kristen and I met this afternoon, at which time I shared with her my determination that the best path to move UND soccer forward was to have a change in leadership," Faison said. "I want to thank Kristen for her service to our program and wish her well in any future endeavors."

Gay spent five seasons as the head coach at North Dakota and compiled a career record of 22-61-6. She originally joined the UND soccer staff as an assistant coach in 2006 and was promoted to head coach prior to the 2008 season. Before arriving at UND, Gay spent two years as assistant coach at Indiana State and two years as head coach at Dana College.

"A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately," Faison said.
