GRAND FORKS, N.D.-- Idaho State used a balanced attack to chalk-up a road win over North Dakota, 25-19, 27-25, 25-22 Thursday evening at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center in Big Sky Conference play. Five different Bengals had at least seven kills to help keep the Bengals in second place in the league standings.

It was a back-and-forth opening set featuring eight tie scores and four lead changes until a 7-1 spurt by the Bengals broke a 12-all tie. ISU would not look back from that point in the set and outhit the home team .250 to .146 to earn the 25-19 victory in the first set.

Four consecutive points helped UND (11-13, 6-7 Big Sky) grab an early 6-4 advantage in the second set. Neither team would lead by more than three points the entire set as this frame saw 16 tie scores. Seven of those tie scores came after the match was already all-square at 17-17 with each team able to successfully sideout the other consistently. With the score tied at 25-apiece, ISU was able to regain service on an attack error then blocked the final point to head to the locker room with a two-sets-to-none advantage.

Kills on three consecutive plays by sub Chandler Spearman kick-started a 8-4 lead for North Dakota energizing the home faithful. UND got out to a 15-10 margin with ISU (17-5, 11-2) having to exhaust both timeouts. Out of the second stoppage, however, ISU immediately went on a 7-2 run to tie the score at 17-all. ISU would take its first lead of the final set at 20-19 and hung on for a 25-22 victory to gain the road sweep.

UND was led by junior Lisa Parlich, who tallied 16 kills to lead all players. Junior Ronni Munkeby added 14 and sophomore Lexi Robinson chipped-in nine for North Dakota while sophomore Nikki Husfledt had 37 assists.

Breanne Van Every and Whitney Bartschi each garnered a team-best nine kills for the Bengals.

North Dakota will host Weber State Saturday afternoon at the Betty. First serve is set for 4:00 p.m.
