UND men solidify second place at day two of TYR Invite

EVANSTON, Ill.- The University of North Dakota men's swimming team has a solid hold on second place through two of three days at the TYR Invitational at Northwestern University. Saturday's action saw UND claim nine individual finishes in the top eight.

Adam Gannon won the 100 breaststroke, clocking a 56.96 in the finals. He also finished third in the 100 butterfly, touching in 50.17. Matt Koken and Austin Smith also qualified for the championship final, placing sixth and eighth, respectively. Aaron Chanas-LaRue was just edged-out in the 200 freestyle, touching in 1:39.68 for second place. George Philbin took fifth (1:42.90) and Zak Gosney was seventh (1:44.16) in that event. Ian Ballantyne took fourth in the 100 breast (58.08) and Wesley Schultz was sixth (59.56) for North Dakota.

Both the men's 200 medley and 800 freestyle relays were second-place finishes for UND teams.

The meet concludes Sunday beginning with finals starting at 3:00 p.m. Central.
