BROOKINGS, S.D.-- The University of North Dakota women's swimming and diving team defeated host South Dakota State, 160.5- 137.5 in the final regular season meet Saturday. The UND men fell to the Jackrabbits, 180-120.

"The women came out strong again today and they seem to hitting their stride at the right time," UND head swimming coach Steve Parsons said. "We had some strong performances today. Morgan Lynch had a great race in the 1000. She posted a good time but the way she raced it was what impressed me most. It was close the whole way and she kept her focus from start to finish. I though Kelsey Richels swam her best 200 race of the season!  She was really aggressive early and put up her best in season time this year. Veronica Medon continues to perform well week in and week out. She came through with some great swims again to day in the 200 back and the 200 IM.  Erin Grabanski continues to improve each week.  She really had a nice lead off swim in the 400 Free Relay. I think the time she posted would have put her second in the open 100 free. The big shining moment on the women's side was seeing Rachael Waldbillig qualify for the NCAA Diving zone meet!  She has been working really hard and that work paid off in a big way today.

"On the men's side. We had some solid swims from our guys. George Philbin had a great swim in the 200 free and posted his best season time. He is a senior and seeing him go 1:43 under hard training is exciting to see. Adam Gannon had another great swim in the 100 breaststroke. He swam that race well from start to finish. Dan Jacobson swam a smart race in both the 200 fly and the 200 IM. He works his butt off in practice and he is one of those guys you know you can count on in close races!  Rick Eberle had another good day on the boards and the one guy making big strides is Michael Golling. He had his best meet thus far in the diving events."

The UND men will now prepare for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championships on Feb. 20-23 while the UND women swim in the WAC Championships Feb. 27- Mar. 2.
