Jordan Gigli is set to begin his fourth season as the defensive line coach at UND in 2017. He also directs the program's youth camps, which have seen a substantial increase in participants under his management the past four summers.

Gigli's position group has been instrumental in making the Fighting Hawks one of the most-feared defensive units in the Big Sky. For the third-straight season, the unit once again ranked among the tops in the Big Sky in several categories, including scoring defense (1st; 22.0 ppg), rush defense (1st; 91.3 ypg) and total defense (2nd; 355.2 ypg) in 2016.

The rushing yards allowered were sixth best nationally and 43 yards better than the next closest Big Sky team. UND has led the Big Sky in rushing defense the past three seasons.

Three of his linemen earned All-Big Sky recognition as sophomore Tank Harris collected third-team accolades and junior ends Brandon Dranka and Drew Greely were named honorable mention.

In 2015, a pair of his linemen garnered All-Big Sky honors as sophomore Brandon Dranka (DE) was named to the third team and junior Noah Johnson (DE) collected honorable mention accolades.

Under Gigli's watch in 2014, his unit boasted a pair of All-Big Sky honorable mention honorees in senior Spencer Cummings and Dranka.

Dranka led all defensive linemen with 25 tackles and 3.5 sacks, while his unit as a whole accounted for 12.5 sacks and 33.0 tackles for loss and helped the defense lead the Big Sky in total defense and rush defense.

Gigli (pronounced Gee-lee) remained in the Big Sky with his latest move, having spent the previous three seasons upon his arrival in Grand Forks working in a similar position at Sacramento State.

Prior to his stop in California's capital city, Gigli was a defensive and special teams quality control coach at Minnesota for four seasons (2007-10). His primary duties with the Gophers were coaching the defensive line along with the placekickers, punters and long snappers.

Gigli was an all-conference performer and team captain during his playing days at Trine University (2000-03) and holds a master's degree from Western Illinois where he spent two seasons as a graduate assistant coach (2004-05). His first full-time coaching job came at Wittenberg University (Ohio) during the 2006 season.
