GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The University of North Dakota men’s tennis team claimed a fast, 4-0, win over Southern Utah to earn its third-straight dual win on Friday afternoon at Choice Health and Fitness.

The meet was shortened after UND clinched the win with victories in the No. 2, No. 4, and No. 6 singles matches. The No. 1, No. 3, and No. 5 singles matches went unfinished.

North Dakota started the day with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Travis Lau and Dustin Britton won their first Big Sky No. 1 doubles match of the season, winning 6-2, while Ty Misialek and Simon Danyluk improved to 3-3 in conference doubles action.

Lau was the first Fighting Hawk to claim a singles win on the day, winning his No. 2 match, 6-4, 6-2. It was his second-straight Big Sky singles win.

In the No. 4 singles match, Alex Mailes posted a 6-4, 6-1 win for his second straight singles win.

Matt Hokanson’s win in the No. 6 singles match was the clincher for UND, as the sophomore won, 6-3, 6-4, for his first career singles win.

UND returns to the courts at Choice Health and Fitness next weekend for a single dual against Gustavus Adolphus on Saturday, March 18, at 5 p.m. (CT).
