Bubba Schweigert announced the addition of quarterback Nate Ketteringham to the Fighting Hawks on Friday. The San Diego native will have two seasons of eligibility at UND after sitting out the upcoming season due to NCAA transfer rules. He played his first two collegiate seasons in the Big Sky for Sacramento State.Grand Forks, N.D. -- North Dakota head football coach
"We're excited to add Nate to our football program," Schweigert said. "Our staff was impressed with his abilities as a quarterback when we prepped against his Sacramento State team last season. We liked his competitiveness and skill set and expect him to bolster our competition at the quarterback position here at UND."
Ketteringham started 15 career games for the Hornets and threw for 3,391 yards and 24 touchdowns, while completing 54.7 percent of his passes (293-for-536). He also rushed for 237 yards and four touchdowns.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder started 10 of 11 games as a sophomore in 2016 and had his best game in a 41-38 win over Montana State when he threw for 356 yards and four touchdowns. He also had a four-touchdown passing game against No. 14 Cal Poly and finished the season with 1,977 passing yards and 13 touchdowns.
Ketteringham is expected to participate in fall camp for the Fighting Hawks, which opens on Tuesday, Aug. 1.
