GRAND FORKS, N.D. – University of North Dakota senior captain Austin Poganski has signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the St. Louis Blues, who drafted Poganski in the fourth round (110th overall) of the 2014 National Hockey League Entry Draft. Poganski will report to the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League (AHL) this week.

A 6-foot-2, 210-pound winger, Poganski appeared in 166 collegiate games and collected 37 goals and 84 points while posting a plus-33 rating. The St. Cloud, Minn., native closed out his career with a streak of 155 consecutive games played that dated back to his freshman season.

Poganski reached the 10-goal and 20-point plateaus in each of his final three seasons, scoring a career-high 12 goals in 2016-17 and matching his personal-best of 25 points that same season.

North Dakota’s team captain in 2017-18, Poganski was one of 10 national finalists for the Senior CLASS Award honoring excellence in four areas: the community, classroom, character and competition. He was also one of four finalists for the National Collegiate Hockey Conference’s (NCHC) Sportsmanship Award.

Poganski was a four-time selection to the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team and was a two-time NCHC Scholar-Athlete. He was the co-recipient of UND’s Coaches’ Unsung Hero Award in 2016-17 and was the team’s Most Improved Player as a sophomore in 2015-16 after helping lead the Fighting Hawks to the program’s eighth national championship and second straight NCHC regular-season title.

Poganski is the fifth Fighting Hawk to land a professional contract since the end of the 2017-18 season, joining senior forward Trevor Olson (ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays), senior goaltender Cam Johnson (New Jersey Devils), junior forward Shane Gersich (Washington Capitals) and junior defenseman Christian Wolanin (Ottawa Senators).
