The University of North Dakota swimming and diving teams have been recognized for their achievements in the classroom, earning College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America status for Spring 2012, announced recently. Both the UND women and men garnered accolades thanks to cumulative team grade point averages of 3.0 or higher.

The UND women's team finished tied for 50th out of 145 NCAA Division I teams above a 3.0. The women combined for a 3.38 GPA in the Spring term. The UND women also earned Scholar All-America status in the Fall of 2011 with their combined 3.32 GPA.

The North Dakota men posted a 3.02 Spring GPA, becoming one of 75 Division I schools honored.

"This is such an honor for these teams," said Amanda Hajdu, Director of Athletics Academic Services. "They work so hard physically, in and out of the pool, for their sport and to see them carry it over into academics is an outstanding achievement."

The College Swimming Coaches Association is the oldest coaches organization in America. In addition to Scholar All-American Awards, the CSCAA recognizes All American Swimmers and Divers at the national championships every year.

A complete listing of schools in all divisions who have achieved this honor can be found on the CSCAA website at www.cscaa.org.
