GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The UND women's tennis team was defeated Friday in its first Big Sky Conference match, falling to Montana 7-0.

Head coach Tom Wynne took positives out of the match saying, "It's hard to find something good about getting beat 7-0, but we had a couple bright spots. We competed well with them. We learned some things, but how well we react in the future is going to determine how good we get."

Juniors Sarah Stejskal (Grand Rapids, Minn.) and Stephanie Biehn (Sherburn, Minn.) teamed for UND's lone doubles win, defeating Precious Gbadamosi and Ashley Mackey 8-5 in No. 2 doubles.

Montana won all six singles matches. A hard-fought battle between UND junior Stephanie Petis and Montana senior Heather Davidson resulted in a Montana win in No. 1 singles, winning 6-4, 6-4, 11-9.

UND returns to action on Friday night against South Dakota State at 8 p.m.
