AMES, IOWA --- University of North Dakota softball began its last day of the Iowa State Tournament with a 7-3 win over South Dakota State and closed out the tournament falling 8-0 to host Iowa State.

UND 7, SDSU 3

With the 7-3 victory over the Jackrabbits, UND falls to 2-3 on the season while SDSU drops to 1-4.

"It was a nice team win," head coach Eric Oakley said. "Even after giving up the lead we never let down."

North Dakota took an early 2-run lead in the bottom of the first after Nichole Babrowski (Oak Lawn, Ill.) was walked, stole second and was batted in when Cami Bennett (Grants Pass, Ore.) singled up the middle. D Jantzer (Grants Pass, Ore.) was walked and advanced to second after Bennett stole third. Kenna Olsen (Issaquah, Wash.) singled up the middle scoring Bennett.

The game remained 2-0 until the bottom of the fourth when sophomore Catherine Dorsher (Grand Forks, N.D.) reached first base on a fielding error. Freshman Taylor Hansen (Chelsea, Mich.) got out at first with a bunt but Dorsher advanced to second. Babrowski grounded out to the pitcher and Dorsher was able to advance to third. Bennett singled to left field, bringing in Dorsher, for the RBI.

The Jackrabbits scored three runs in the top of the fifth to tie the game.

UND answered back with a four-run inning in the sixth to advance their lead to four.

Bennett got her third RBI after grounding to third and scoring Taylor Donnelly (Lakeville, Minn.), who pinch ran for Dorsher.

"Abby Jo and Michelle both pitched well and several players contributed big hits," Oakley said.

Later, Jantzer was walked and Olsen flied out to center field scoring Hansen. Brittany Baker (Buena Park, Calif.) singled up the middle allowing Babrowski to score and Keegan doubled to left center bringing Jantzer home and ending the game with a 4-run lead.

ISU 8, UND 0

North Dakota fell 8-0 to host Iowa State this afternoon to close out the Iowa State Tournament.

UND falls to 2-4 on the season while ISU advances to 3-1 overall.

They Cyclones took a 1-run lead during the bottom of the first and didn't stop there. ISU went on to score the next seven runs all of which were unanswered by North Dakota.

"We started out strong, but let them get away with some infield hits," Oakley said. "We hit the ball hard, but at them. The stats don't reflect the game's true competitive balance."

North Dakota put up a fight in the second when Brittany Baker (Buena Park, Calif.) and Megan Keegan (Elk Grove, Ill.) were both walked and Courtney Gonzales (Costa Mesa, Calif.) grounded out to shortstop to advance Keegan to second, but they couldn't catch ISU.

ISU's Riley Fisher recorded the win, pitching a no-hitter.
