GRAND FORKS, N.D. --- The University of North Dakota women's hockey team extended its program-record unbeaten streak into the postseason Friday as it skated its way to a 6-1 decision over visiting Minnesota State University, Mankato at the Ralph Engelstad Arena.

North Dakota is now unbeaten in its last 11 games and is one win away from advancing to the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Final Face-Off for the third consecutive season.

UND used points from 10 different players with six different goal scorers this afternoon to improve to 24-10-1 on the year while MSU falls to 10-20-5.

UND came out with arguably its most dominating period of the season to open the game, outscoring the Mavericks 4-0 and outshooting them 15-1. UND only allowed two attempted shots in the stanza while firing 26 of its own.

Freshman Becca Kohler (St. Thomas, Ontario) knotted the game's first goal only 1:46 into the first frame while Jocelyne Lamoureux (Grand Forks, N.D.), Josefine Jakobsen (Aalborg, Denmark) and Monique Lamoureux (Grand Forks, N.D.) added goals before the first intermission.

The Mavericks would change goaltenders after the first 20 minutes as Erin Krichiver entered the game for Danielle Butters.

North Dakota's Ashley Furia (Sedalia, Colo.) scored her first goal of the season at 5:53 of second period and the home team thought it had opened six-goal lead only 43 seconds later as Monique Lamoureux found the back of the net. Lamoureux's goal was reviewed and taken off the scoreboard after goal interference was called.

The game would level out after this point as MSU was able to find some offensive zone time it had lacked up until this point.

The Mavericks opened the third period on the power play and took advantage as Tracy McCann scored on one UND netminder Shelby Amsley-Benzie (Warroad, Minn.) would like to have back. MSU's Kathleen Rogan attempts to hit McCann, who is standing even with the goal line, looking for a backdoor shot. The puck hits McCann's skates, trickles to the crease, and goes off of Amsley-Benzie's skate and in.

UND would convert its first power play in the third period to close out the game's scoring at 11:40 as Meghan Dufault (Winnipeg, Manitoba) gave Michelle Karvinen (Rodovre, Denmark) the puck in the slot, who then made a behind-the back pass to Jakobsen. Jakobsen sent it right back to Karvinen for the wide-open net.

Amsley-Benzie concluded the game with 10 saves to improve to 17-6-1 and set a new program record for single-season wins.

Both team's concluded the game 1-for-3 on the power play while UND finished with a 35-11 advantage in shots.

UND will look for the series sweep beginning at 2:07 p.m. to advance to Minneapolis next weekend.
